Rosemann's Licensed Staff Grows

Rosemann & Associates is pleased to announce that Mike Shea has successfully passed all portions of the Architectural Registration Board licensing exam to become a licensed architect in the State of Missouri.   We are proud of Mike’s accomplishment. 

Rosemann Pitches in with St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay to Clean Up Bike Trail

Rosemann & Associates's, Vice President Kathy Sorkin spent a recent Saturday, clearing away years of debris from an abandoned lot adjacent to the St. Vincent Greenway, part of the St. Louis Great Rivers Greenway system.  This Spring the lot will be turned into a community garden.

Clayton on the Park Honored

CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women in St. Louis) at its annual awards ceremony honored Clayton on the Park with its Member to Member Award.  The award recognizes a project that involved the highest level of collaboration among CREW members (from financiers, title insurers, and architects to general contractors and engineers). Rosemann was Architect and Lead Interior Designer for the renovation of the 25 story iconic apartment building.  Nancy Rodney, Senior Project Manager accepted the award  for her involvement in the project.  Nancy is a former President and active Member of CREW in St. Louis.

Chatham Senior Apartments wins "Timmy" Award

The National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) announced at its 2012 Fall Forum Awards Ceremony in Boston that the Chatham Senior Apartments won the 2012 J. Timothy Anderson Award for Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation in the “best Historic Rehab Utilizing LIHTCs (Medium/$5-$15 million development cost)” category.  In addition, the project was selected by the Judges panel as a finalist for the “Achievement in Sustainability” award.

As described on its website, “fondly referred to as “The Timmys,” the awards honor outstanding rehabilitation and preservation projects based on several criteria, including overall design and quality, interpretation and respect of historic elements, and market success. NH&RA created the “Timmy Awards” as a tribute to Boston architect and preservation advocate J. Timothy Anderson.”

Landmark Investment Group, led by Tony Krsnich, of Kansas City was the developer for the Project.  Rosemann & Associates, P.C. provided architectural, structural and interior design services, construction was completed by Rau Construction Company and Rosin Preservation, LLC provided historic consultation.

“This award is a great accomplishment for the entire development team,” said President Donald Rosemann, AIA.  “It’s a humbling experience when you are recognized for bringing a great historic environment back to life by providing quality affordable housing.”

“The building was run down and quite an eye sore in the community,” said Interior Designer Vickie Stewart, ASID. “Being able to bring it back to its original style and glory was a credit to the developer, the building team and affordable housing.”

Stewart explained renovation projects with historic aspects come with their own set of complexities and surprises. “You never know what historic element may be uncovered as a project proceeds,” she said. “You must be prepared to be flexible, innovative, and creative.”  The building team worked hand in hand to address these discoveries, integrate them into the project, and stay within budget.

The rehabilitation of the Chatham removed one of the City’s largest bastions of blight. No longer a hub for drug trafficking and vagrancy, the Chatham is now beautifully reflecting the distinct history of the Old Hyde Park Historic District. Redevelopment of the Chatham also triggered the formation of a community improvement district in the Broadway/Westport corridor, whose mission is to provide security and cleanliness for the area. The successful rehabilitation of the Chatham will leave a lingering impression upon Kansas City and the seniors who will be able to enjoy its beauty for years to come.

Converging from all corners of the United States, bathed in excitement, expectations high, Don and three of his fellow golfing comrades had arrived. Embellished with crashing waves and open water at the beautifully sculpted rocky shore, the cascading levels of green presented the perfect day…. a life’s dream come true. The guys were here to play The Ailsa at Turnberry, Scotland’s #1 golf course and home to more than twenty British Opens.

One by one, each golfer strolled to the tee box, fully expecting to show unprecedentedly perfect form and style… as all Scots do. Caddies on hand, bursting with tips and counsel, the first ten holes, ripe with good-natured conversation and exchange, were beautifully uneventful, mixed with rain, wind and cool temperatures… On to #11.

Then, as if to the sounds of Rocky’s final championship match, Don grabbed his pitching wedge, stepped into box and sharpened his highly-trained stance and grip, to take the perfect swing. Whoosh…the young man from Kansas, 35 years of golf under his belt, had just taken the most brilliant swing of his life.

Off the club, the ball begins its ascent into the blue sky of the remarkable Scottish beauty… rising, rising, rising. Don loses sight of the Titleist… but only for a second; a split second! At the perfect time and to every wondering eye, the unimaginable happened… an inevitable result of a perfect stroke. Screams, squelches, yelps, sighs, screeches…Don Rosemann, hardworking architect, dedicated husband, father and grandfather, had just hit a hole-in-one!

3,000 smiles wide…that describes how Don Rosemann appeared on hole #11…and from that moment on, he fell into a dream… a dream where drama played out…for only a chosen few…a dream of hitting a hole-in-one at The Ailsa at Turnberry!

A Shelter Designed to Withstand 250 Miles Per Hour Winds?

A shelter designed to withstand 250 miles per hour winds …that’s exactly what the City of Kansas City, Kansas (Unified Government of Wyandotte County) had in mind when they adopted their new municipal code Section 27-411 (Storm Protection Area Required) that multi-family residential developments be designed to comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency Publication 320 (“Taking Shelter from the Storm”) or Publication 361 (“Design and Construction Guidance for Community Shelter”). This Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Community Shelter is “an area of storm protection.”

Designed by Rosemann & Associates, the first project of this type in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area is the Parallel Senior Villas located in Kansas City, Kansas. A church-sponsored property, the 41 senior-unit housing project is situated on 2.67 acres. Click on the images below to read more.

Grand Boulevard Lofts

Congratulations to the Grand Boulevard Lofts project team on winning a Capstone Award in the Multifamily Category! Awarded by the Kansas City Business Journal, the team will receive the award at an upcoming luncheon in April. Please check back in a month for a follow-up post.

Jennings Senior Apartments

Completion of this project is right around the corner! The exterior of the building is complete, with the exception of minor items, and sitework in progress. Concrete for resident parking on the east side of the building, as well as for the covered rear patio, is complete One of the four floors is at 100% with the remaining floors close behind. Be sure to check back next month for more updates.

Cameron Veterans Home Additions

The veterans home additions are steadily moving towards completion. The spaces are enclosed and under roof, building systems in-place, and drywall in progress. As additions to a 200-bed nursing home located in Cameron, Missouri, the project will provide a solarium and chapel/multi-purpose space for residents to enjoy. Kemper Village Homes

Construction at Kemper Village Homes in Boonville, MO has been underway for a couple of months now. A vast majority of the site excavation has been completed and site utilities are in progress. As a running theme this time of year, the weather has been an issue. However, a significant portion of the drive lane into the new development has been poured, as well as a couple lot footings. With weather sure to improve over the next month, we anticipate the project construction to really progress! Once complete, the project will provide 40 single-family homes.
