St. Michael's Veterans Center Grand Opening

Kansas City, MO - The St. Michael’s Veterans Center has officially opened its doors for the first of three planned phases.  Developed through a partnership between Catholic Charities of Kansas City – St. Joseph and Yarco Co. and designed by Rosemann & Associates P.C., the 58-unit apartment complex will help combat the homelessness of 57 individual men, and one family. All of the apartments will be affordable.  Leading the design team was Rosemann’s Edward English.
Edward’s plan includes spacious wheelchair-accessible rooms, granite countertops and large closets.  The building also has community rooms, outpatient medical care, a fitness center, and computer and job training
centers.
The development transforms what has been an eyesore for many years on the site of the former Holy Temple Homes.  The 24-acre property will host three new buildings as well as updated landscaping.  Phase II is slated to begin this fall and be complete in early 2016.
Financing was primarily funded by a U.S. Bank community development subsidiary which incorporated the use of federal and state low-income tax credits as well as the use of federal grants.  The city contributed roughly $1.2 million in order to grade the site and build a new road.  Tax credits were awarded to the project by the Missouri Housing Development Commission.
Rosemann is proud to contribute to the success of this project which honors those who have served our country.

Rosemann Welcomes Laura J. Widholm as the Newest Project Manager in the St. Louis Office

Laura followed her passion for architecture after attending a summer program for high school students focusing on architecture at the University of Illinois.  Her exposure to the design world amplified her interest in architecture so when she was applying to universities, she declared Architecture as her major. Laura graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies.

After working on a few commercial office buildings, Laura decided to pursue her Masters of Architecture at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  Armed with a Masters degree, Laura returned to St. Louis in the beginning of 2011 where she gained experience working with consultants, clients, & contractors.

In August 2013, Laura received her professional Architectural Registration for the state of Missouri.  She went on to receive National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Certification and initiated an AIA membership.

In her short time in the St. Louis community, Laura has given her time and knowledge to multiple organizations, including Young Architect’s Forum St. Louis (YAFSTL) where she is the Vice-Chair. She is involved with HomeFirstSTL, a non-profit aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness in St.  Louis, as well as Rebuilding Together, another great organization.

She is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Missouri Gateway Chapter and participates in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Mentorship group program.

We are delighted to welcome Laura to the Rosemann team.
